Viburnum x nudum Cassinoides - Witherod Viburnum

Northeast native fast growing shrub. Foliage emerges greenish bronze turning to glossy green. Fall leaves can be gold to dull crimson. This viburnum is tolerant of wet soils.

Summer flowers are held in flat-topped cymes above the foliage. The fruit set is the most interesting feature of this Native especially when all three colors are present in the same berry grouping of porcelain like fruit in white, pink and purple.

Plants will have a heavier berry set when planted in groups.

Similar plants Viburnum nudum (Possumhaw Viburnum) also termed Southern Witherod and Winterthur which is a readily available named cultivar and very similar to cassinoides. Winterthur has bright crimson fall foliage and is a real show stopper.
