Viburnum dentatum 'Arrowwood'
Anative viburnum which is becoming more difficult to find in larger sizes. Many of the newer named cultivars such as Northern Burgundy, Blue Muffin, Autumn Jazz and Chicago Luster have crowded out this old favorite .
However this easy to grow Native still has a place in the garden. Uses include screening, informal hedges, windbreaks or simply a backdrop for other native or ornamental plants. Birds and wildlife love the berries.
This viburnum likes to sucker and will handle most conditions. However this plant prefers a location that will get regualr moisture as opposed to hot, dry, and windy. This easy to grow viburnum can be used for screening or an informal hedge. The straight stems were used for arrows hence the common name Arrowwood. Fall color is yellow to reddish orange and varies greatly among plants.
