Viburnum prunifolium - Blackhaw viburnum
Viburnum prunifolium also known as the Blackhaw viburnum. Black haw can be multistemmed shrub or single stem tree. It's common name Blackhaw is derived from the black mature bark and haw from the Hawthorne like tree form.
This native plant produces a nice berry set appreciated by birds and other wildlife. Clusters of pendulous fruit or drupes in green, yellow, and red mature to blue and purplish black.
A great plant for a naturalizing its glossy green foliage and many branches make a great decidous screen.
Fall color is bright yellow to vibrant crimson.
